Margorie E. “Marge” Baker

Marjorie Ellen “Marge” Baker, 89, of Boon, Michigan, formerly of Hardinville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at The Curry House in Cadillac, Michigan.

Marge was born on July 19, 1929, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to William Francis and Emma Janet (Stone) Baker.  On May 27, 1957, she married Larry V. Baker, who preceded her in death on February 1, 1998.

Marge was employed at JC Penny for 27 years, selling major electronics and appliances in Michigan City, Merrillville, and Terre Haute, Indiana, retiring in 1987, and at Fair-Rite Corp. in Robinson, IL, for 6 ½ years, retiring in 1992.

Marge was a member of Boon Baptist Church, Boon, Michigan.  She was a former and very active member in the Hardinville Christian Church,  Hardinville, IL; a member of Friends of Mitchell State Park, Cadillac, MI; a Volunteer at Missaukee Conservation District, Lake City, MI; a member of the Wexford County Michigan Farm Bureau.  Marge also hosted a Bible Study Class in her home in Boon, MI.  She enjoyed crocheting, reading, and traveling around the world.

Marge is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Terry L. and Kathleen Baker, of Springport, MI, Charles A. and Martha Baker, of Marshall, MI, Ross E. and Laura Baker, Tualatin, OR;  her two daughters and sons-in-law,  Linda and Keith Miller, Murphy, NC, and Lorry A. and Ron Klinger, Boon, MI.;  eighteen grandchildren, Noelle and Jack Garwick, Kelly and Mike Brown, Tony Baker, Scott Baker, Debra and Jason Gray, Beth Prater, Charles and Brandi Baker, Charity and David Nelson, Matt and Julie McCord, Greg McCord, Steven Engle, Samuel and Julia Baker, Aaron Baker, Molly and Casey Grun, Andy and Elizabeth Klinger, Neil and Tashia Klinger, Jordan and Jennifer Klinger, Grace and Christopher Kuzmin;  21 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.  She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Donna Baker, Culver, IN, a foster daughter-in-law, Roberta McCord, Fishers, IN, and a sister and brother-in-law Frances Anne “Fran” and Jim Fritz, Ocala, FL;  two step-sisters, Glenna and Mike Warwick, Indianaplis, IN and Janis and Roger Day, Brighton, MI, a nephew who was raised by Larry and Marge, Thomas and Karen Powers, Sandy, UT, along with eight nieces and nephews.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Dale F. Baker, a daughter Jayellen Johnson, a half-brother Bill Shotts, her step-mother, Ruby Shotts, and a foster son Terry McCord.

Celebration of Marge’s life will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Pulliam Funeral Home in Oblong, IL.  Burial will follow in the Hardinville Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of service on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Pulliam Funeral Home in Oblong.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy may take the form of a contribution to Hardinville Christian Church or the Boon Baptist Church.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or may be mailed to Pulliam Funeral Home, P.O.
